Fresh 48 sessions are for families that wish to document the first hours of their baby's life outside of the womb. A fresh 48 session is held at the place of your baby's birth within the first 48 hours after birth. The birth itself is not photographed. Fresh 48 sessions are documentary non posed sessions. I will capture the love between you and your precious newborn baby and the love of your family as you dote on and welcome your new family member into your lives. I will capture the natural connections and the small little details about your sweet new baby that will soon change as your baby quickly grows and changes by the day.

Fresh 48 sessions are sweet and simple. I will try to book your fresh 48 session in the morning or afternoon for the best available window light. I will come to your hospital room or home with just my camera, 1-2 lenses, an on camera flash (which I may or may not use depending on the lighting) and 1 or 2 wraps. For the most part I will just use the blankets and things there in your room. Babies in a little white onesie or wrapped in a hospital receiving blanket are so cute and classic.

I will take photos of just your baby and photos of you and your family interacting with and loving on your new baby joy. These sessions are documentary, but there will be some light guidance from me. If your baby is going to have footprints done, a bath or anything else special that day you can ask the nurse to wait for my arrival and I will capture that as well. Fresh 48 Sessions are about 30-60 minutes long depending on which collection you choose.

You do not need to worry about dressing up and/or doing your makeup and hair unless you want to. These photos are about capturing the candid moments and the sweet newness of your baby. Your family's clothing choice is important, white and other light neutral colors look bright and pure and they work well for photos with new babies.

I recommend you avoid super bright colors, busy patterns and graphics because they can be distracting in the photos.

Once your baby has been born you or a person you have designated must email, text or call me right away so I can prepare for and schedule your fresh 48 session right away. A heads up text is much appreciated when you go into labor so I can rearrange my schedule if needed. Often times the hospital stay is short and you want your photographer there to document this special fleeting time before you go home. If you are planning a home birth I'm happy to come to your home as well as long as it is within the first 48 hours after birth. Fresh 48 sessions are very different from posed newborn sessions, your baby will change so much in a weeks time and the photography style is also different. If you choose to have a fresh 48 session and a posed newborn session each will be unique and produce completely different photos.

I can now also come to your home shortly after you come home from the hospital for a fresh session if your hospital or other place of delivery does not allow additional visitors at this time.
